The Jim Henson Company was founded in 1958 by Jim Henson, creator of The Muppets and many puppet-based shows and films.
Since the death of Jim Henson in 1990, his son and daughter, Brian and Lisa, have run the company and continued to release new shows.
The company used to have a distribution arm called Henson International Television, but it was sold off (to members of the Henson company) and renamed HIT Entertainment, which is now a major rights holder and distributor of classic kids television.
