The show ran from 1989 until 1993 and consisted of 43 episodes. The show, a comedy-drama, was based upon the activities of a childrens newspaper, the Junior Gazette, created by children at a comprehensive school. The show was written by ex-teacher Steven Moffat and over half of the episodes were directed by Bob Spiers, a noted British comedy director.
