Live action/animation hybrid starring writer Mike Amatt, his dog Mop and cat Smiff. Each episode started with a film about what Mike and his pets had been up to, followed by a cartoon featuring the animal duo, and finally Mike singing a song to end. The series rather fell into the same trap that usually catches such portmanteau formats; namely that while kids liked the cartoon, they tended not to enjoy the live-action bits so much.

An all live-action spin-off series, Mike, Mop and the Moke saw Mike and Mop travelling around seaside resorts in a 1965 Mini Moke, getting involved in whatever was going on. This spin-off had the distinction of being the first programme ever announced by Phillip Schofield from the CBBC broom cupboard.
