"Thundering across the stars, to save the universe from the Monster Minds...

Jayce searches for his father, to unite the Magic Root and lead his Lightning League to victory over the changing form of Saw Boss. Wheeled Warriors explode into battle
-- Lightning Strikes!"

Audric, Jayce's father is a scientist and was trying to create a plant that would end world hunger, but a sun flared and accidentally mutated it into an evil plant that grew out of control into Saw Boss and the Monster Minds. To destroy these plants, he also created a good plant, though it has yet to be grown - only the root exists, The Magic Root. Split in two to keep it safe from the Monster Minds, half was sent with Oon, Audric's faithful squire, to find Jayce.

Oon found Jayce, and Gillian helped Oon tell the tale of what happened. Jayce must find his father and reunite the two halfs of the magic root. To do this, Gillian gives Jayce the Ring of Light, the ring of leadership of the heroes of the past, The Lightning League. As Jayce puts the ring on, the Lightning League is reborn.

With Gillian's new vehicles and the assitance of Herc Stormsailor, captain of The Pride of the Skies - they set out to defeat the Monster Minds.

Originally a toy line of Mattel's in 1984, a cartoon series was created in 1985 by Saban Entertainment for DiC Entertainment. 65 episodes were made, each 30 minutes long. The series was originally written in French and then converted into English.

The series producer (and occasional script writer) was J. Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame.

Voice Introduction

Thundering across the stars,
To save the universe from the Monster Minds...

Jayce searches for his father,
To unite the Magic Root and
Lead his Lightning League to victory
Over the changing form of Saw Boss.

Wheeled Warriors explode into battle...

Lightning Strikes!

Lyrics

There's a power that comes from deep inside of you,
'Cause every day you're reaching toward the light,
And you know there's a long long way ahead of you,
But when your wheels get you there,
Things will turn out right!

Just keep 'em turning, don't stop 'em rolling,
The fire is on, (Wheeled Warriors!)
Battle drums burning, wheels moving,
Wheeled Warriors! (Wheeled Warriors!)

Come take a chance, keep 'em turning, don't stop 'em rolling,
The fire is on, (Wheeled Warriors!)
Battle drums burning, wheels moving!
Wheeled Warriors! (Wheeled Warriors!)

The closing lyrics are different:

Drivin' down on the highway,
And my wheels are spinnin' fast,
I've been driving now for a long long time,
And soon I will be there,

Keep on rollin'!
Keep on rollin'!

There's no turning back,
We're goin' all the way!
