Round The Twist Title

Round The Twist is an Australian children's comedy, based around the Twist family and the supernatural goings-on in their town.

The Twist family are widower Tony Twist and his three children, twins Pete and Linda, and Bronson. They live in the old, and usually haunted, lighthouse at Port Niranda.

Four series were made, from 1989 to 2000, with many cast changes along the way. Each episode is a self-contained, supernatural story, but there are central story themes hinted at in each episode throughout a series, culminating in a story that explains them.

The first two series were based on short stories by the author Paul Jennings, with adaptations by Esben Storm (a cast member and the director). After Paul Jennings left, Esben Storm took over writing for series 3 and 4. These latter series, produced long after the originals, were not as popular as the first two and are less remembered.

Theme Tune

The theme tune was written by Andrew Duffield and sung by the original Linda Twist, Tamsin West. It is based upon a number of interwoven children's nursery rhymes and is very well remembered.

Lyrics

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

Well have you heard the word,
About the bird and the spider.
That wiggled and wriggled
And giggled inside her?

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

If all the king's horses
And all the king's men,
Couldn't put me back together again.
I'd say...

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day.

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day.

I can hear myself say,
This is not my day.
I'm saying what the hey,
You won't believe me anyway!

I can hear myself say,
This is not my day.
I'm saying what the hey,
You won't believe me anyway!

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
(Rain, rain, go away, come again another day.)
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
(Rain, rain, go away, come again another day.)
Have strange things happened,
Are you going round the twist?

Going round the twist...
